Minimum Qualification - Bachelors degree in architectural history, history, historic preservation, American studies, or related discipline with architectural history or historic preservation concentration or equivalent demonstrated abilities and / or experience.
Secretary of Interior-qualified architectural historian.
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Job Description - The position will involve the person working full time from the URS field office in Galveston, Texas in support of large-scale disaster recovery housing programs. The person will travel through portions of east and southeast Texas and record affected residential buildings to determine their eligibility for listing on the National Register of Historic Places using the recognized criteria of evalution. The person also will determine the effect of the planned work on the building and within the Area of Potential Effect. After completing these tasks, the person will create a technical report for submission to the State Historic Preservation Office and presentation to the local Landmark Commission. The person also will routinely meet with Texas residents, building contractors, SHPO and City historic preservation staff in the course of their duties. Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated knowledge of Galveston and in classifying and recording Gulf Coast residential buildings.
