Society for the Preservation of Long Island Antiquities (SPLIA)

The Society for the Preservation of Long Island Antiquities (SPLIA) is the leading preservation advocate and resource on Long Island. With an extraordinary 60-year history, SPLIA oversees three historic properties, owns one of the strongest regional collection of decorative arts, leads an active preservation movement and maintains a highly regarded publishing program. SPLIAís operating budget is approximately $1 million with 6 full- and 4 part-time staff and a dozen+ seasonal and per diem staff. There is a 27-person board of trustees and an endowment of approximately $12 million.

The Director is an ex-officio member of the board and reports to and works closely with the president and the board of trustees. She/he has broad authority for the implementation of plans and programs in accordance with policies formulated jointly with the board and staff and for the management and coordination of SPLIAs operations, finances and human resources. The Director will, in unison with the board, develop and implement all fundraising activities. The successful candidate will have the demonstrated ability to think strategically and lead in advancing, with renewed vigor, SPLIAs mission throughout Long Island.
