Mead & Hunt, a nationally recognized professional services consulting firm, is seeking a highly motivated Historic Preservation Specialist in our Lexington, SC office.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to: completing activities for Section 106 compliance including identification and evaluation of historic resources while applying the National Register criteria; conducting research and site visits; preparing reports including historic context, property descriptions, and evaluations of properties; managing projects; working with clients; business development.  Travel will be required.


The successful candidate will have all of the following:

·         A masters degree in historic preservation or related field (history, architectural history, art history, public history, landscape architecture); AND

·         7+ years of cultural resources management experience completing CRM activities for Section 106 projects; as well as preparing historic contexts, compliance reports, Determinations of Eligibility, and/or nominations;


The ideal candidate will have experience with any/all of the following: transportation projects; business development in this positions geographic area; previous experience with project and client management. The ideal candidate will also have the ability to conduct research, field surveys, and apply the National Register criteria.  Experience with environmental documents a plus. Candidates must be able to provide, upon request, work examples that demonstrate their strong writing, research and communication skills.
