Administration/Organizational Operations
- Oversees daily administrative functions of the organization
- Oversees general financial matters of the organization
- Oversees organizational programs and recommends and/or provides input
on proposed new programs
- Maintains chief administrative responsibility for public accountability of the
organization and regular reporting to various bodies
- Carries chief officer responsibility for ensuring that legal obligations of the
organization are met
- Maintains oversight of the historic Lowry House
Preservation Advocacy and Community Services
- Advocates for preservation policy at the federal, state and local levels
- Works in conjunction with applicable state agencies, local governments and
other organizations to identify historic assets in Mississippi communities
- Advises communities throughout Mississippi on the mechanisms necessary
for preservation of their historic assets
Public Relations
- Communicates the mission of the organization to its members
- Communicates the mission of the organization to communities throughout
Mississippi by various means, such as personal contact with location
preservationists
- Develops and distributes descriptive organizational literature
- Develops and maintains media relations
- Maintains relationships with relevant state agencies and national
organizations
Development
- Works to increase organizational members with assistance from the board
and other volunteers
- Assists with capital campaign and fundraising for the organization and the
Lowry House, a historic house and preservation resource center
- Seeks funding from individual donors and granting entities
HumanResources
- Maintains effective relationships and communications with Board
of Trustees and membership, including any committees
- Supervises and directs staff in the performance of their duties,
evaluates the performance of staff members
Minimal Job Requirements
Education B.A. or B.S. degree in Communications, Public Administration, Business Management or similar field. M.A./M.S. or Master of Historic Preservation preferred.
Experience Three years of supervisory or managerial experience. Experience working with preservation issues and nonprofit organizations is preferred.
