INDIANA UNIVERSITY SOUTH BEND The Department of History and the Civil Rights Heritage Center (CRHC) at Indiana University South Bend is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Director of the CRHC and historian with an emphasis on the modern civil rights era in the United States. This is a 12-month tenure-track appointment, rank open, teaching load 1-1.
IU South Bend is the third largest campus of Indiana University with more than 8,000 students. The Department of History and the CRHC are in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The CRHC operates an historic site in the city with year-round programming and its own staff.
Qualifications:Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Public History, Museum Studies, or a closely allied discipline. Rank is open. Demonstrated expertise in the history of civil rights in 20th century U.S. is required. Applicants must have either 3-4 years of experience in a college-level faculty position or at least 2 years of successful administrative experience commensurate with the role of a center director. Applicants should have an active research agenda and a successful record of undergraduate teaching.
