The Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation is currently looking for an Architectural Historian.

Duties: Oversee implementation of the Section 106 Programmatic Agreement (PA) for the Honolulu Rail Transit Project (HRTP) including, but not limited to:  

·Coordination with state and city agencies as well as  PA signatories, consulting parties, and Native Hawaiian cultural and lineal descendents.

·Collaboration on behalf of HART with the Department of Planning and Permitting (DPP) regarding land use planning activities, including the integration of transit-oriented-development planning  with historic preservation needs in the vicinity of HRTP stations.

·Preparation and/or review ofHawaii, National Register of Historic Places and National Historic Landmark Nominations. 

·Oversight on transit station design with a focus on inclusion of historic and cultural elements, and educational material preparation.

·Support in development mitigation to specific historic properties.

Requirements:  Graduate degree in architectural history, art history, historic preservation, or closely related field, with coursework in American architectural history, or a bachelor's degree in architectural history, art history, historic preservation or closely related field plus either: two years of full-time experience in research, writing, or teaching or substantial contribution through research and publication.
