Susquehanna Museum at the Lock House

The Susquehanna and Tidewater Canal was built between 1836 and 1840. The 45 miles of canal ran from Havre de Grace, Maryland to Wrightsville, Pennsylvania. The Lock House was built in 1840, serving as home for the Lock Tender and office for the Toll Collector. Measuring 30 feet deep and 37 feet long, it was nearly twice the size of the other lock houses on the canal. On the museumís grounds are the house, a portion of the canal and lock, a pivot bridge, and a nature trail.
