The Survey and Register Specialist will assist sponsors in developing historic resources surveys, evaluate the results of surveys, identify properties that meet the National Register Criteria, review state and federal projects which may affect historic resources, enter data into a central database, prepare and or guide the preparation of National Register nominations, and edit nomination drafts to meet required standards.  The specialist will also assist in providing program information to the public and will participate in public meetings.

Qualifications: BA/BS or higher in History, Art History, Architectural History, Historic Preservation, Cultural Anthropology, Archaeology, Folklore, or Historic Preservation Planning and one year of professional experience in historic preservation with emphasis in historic resources surveys, documentation and/or nominations. A Master's degree or 30 credit hours toward a Master's degree in one of these fields may be substituted for the one year experience requirement.  Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of state and federal historic preservation programs, basic data entry ability and strong written and verbal communications skills.  A valid driver's license is required.
