This position exists to provide technical assistance and outreach to organizations and public entities interested in applying to the State Historical Fund for grants. Duties and responsibilities related to applications assistance include: assisting with the application and selection process for a competitive historic preservation grants program; providing advice to applicants regarding program policies and procedures including the use of The Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties; conducting public presentations on application policies and procedures and other preservation and grant related topics; advising potential grant applicants on building capacity and designing and producing reports using custom database software (including GIFTS). This position will also provide technical assistance and project management for awarded projects which includes physical construction.
After an initial 4-12 month training in the fields of State Historical Fund Preservation Outreach and Historic Preservation Technical Assistance, this position may be eligible to relocate to a newly established Western Slope Field office area.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Historic Preservation, Planning, Architecture, Architectural History, History or a closely related field AND three to five years experience with grants and historic preservation.
Preferred Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess:
- Master's Degree with some relation to historic preservation, architecture, planning or history
- Minimum of five years experience with historic preservation and grants
- Exceptional communication skills
- Exceptional interpersonal skills
