Planning and Zoning Intern
Internship Opportunity

$2,200 stipend


Preservation Society of Charleston is seeking a paid Planning and Zoning intern who will work full-time for 12 weeks from Tuesday, September 3 through Friday, November 6.  The Planning and Zoning Intern will report to the Director of Advocacy and work with the Committee and Staff in preparation for the 2014 Livability Summit.  Duties will include coordination of speakers and logistics for the Summit, including research of Summit topics and issues, and a variety of other similar tasks.  The Planning and Zoning Intern will also assist in processing Carolopolis Award nominations for 2014.


The Society is seeking a graduate or undergraduate student in historic preservation, urban planning or a related field.  Candidates should have knowledge of architectural history and/or community development, completed a research course, and should be able to submit a writing sample if requested  Candidates should have strong research, writing, and organizational skills and the ability to manage both research and administrative tasks. Experience in Microsoft Office is required.  The internship stipend will be $2,200.
