MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:  
The Director of Membership is responsible for developing near and long term strategies to acquire, retain and upgrade members to History Colorado, increasing both the number of members and the net profit. The Director will strengthen and grow the program through multi-channel marketing efforts utilizing direct mail, telemarketing, digital media, and onsite sales. Essential functions include developing all revenue goals and objectives; analyzing expense and revenue progress on a monthly basis; preparing regular financial progress reports and updates to the Director of Marketing, COO, and senior leadership team; writing and developing timely member acquisition and renewal packages; writing membership collateral materials and member acknowledgment letters; developing, analyzing, and overseeing administration of member benefits; coordinating, promoting, evaluating and attending members events; performing member data entry; and responding to all member inquiries. This position will report to the Director of Marketing and Communications and will work closely with Development and Education to guarantee the accomplishment of History Colorados goals and objectives. 


Requires a bachelors degree and 3-5 years of membership or related experience. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A good knowledge of development and marketing and their application to successful membership recruitment and retention campaigns.
  • Considerable knowledge of strategic planning, budgeting, finance, market research, sales, marketing, member relationship management, people management and negotiation skills and techniques.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other departments, senior staff, current and prospective members, vendors, volunteers and committees.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required; knowledge of The Raisers Edge and Galaxy by Gateway preferred.
