San Antonio Conservation Society

Founded in 1924, the San Antonio Conservation Society is one of the oldest and most active community preservation groups in the United States. Beginning with efforts to prevent historic structures from being razed and to preserve such unique features as the city's Spanish Colonial missions, the society has been responsible for saving most of the historic attractions which now make San Antonio one of the top tourist destinations in Texas. single women Besides purchasing historic structures which are threatened by demolition, the Society also conducts annual bus tours of historic sites for school children, offers grants for community preservation projects, maintains two historic house museums, presents awards for the restoration of the built environment and for the publication of outstanding books on Texas history -- and numerous other activities.

1.    Performs administrative functions in regard to membership.

2.    Provides staff support for assigned committees.

3.    Produces the yearbook, newsletter, and other publications using graphical design software. Supports other unassigned committees and staff to create invitations, flyers, etc.

4.    Monitors Society computer operations, oversees installations and purchases, and serves as liaison between the organization and computer technicians.

5.    Provides receptionist desk backup.

6.    Develops and maintains a notebook with standard operating procedures for the Administrative Specialist position, with a copy for the President.

7.    Develops and maintains notebooks for committees to which assignedwith copies for the President, chairman and staffwith written standard operating procedures for individual positions.


1.    Requires an Associate's Degree, 4 years of office administration experience, and experience in working with a non-profit organization.
2.    Experienced in business software programs and publications software programs, including Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite and/or other publications software programs is required.  Proficiency in writing and graphic design is also required. Working knowledge of constituent management software, Abila preferred.

3.    Experienced in hardware and current computer operating systems, including  Microsoft Windows Network Server and Operating Systems.

4.    Has a working knowledge of the Society and is informed about the general history of San Antonio.

5.    Must be able to work with volunteers and maintain a pleasant demeanor while performing in a sometimes highly active and at times stressful environment.
