The incumbent serves as a landscape architect with expertise in historical landscapes and preservation planning in the Pacific West Region. The position is part of the regions Cultural Resources Program and works specifically to carry out the regions responsibilities for National Historic Landmarks and historic preservation partnerships authorized by the National Historic Preservation Act. The incumbent coordinates the identification, documentation, and nomination of nationally significant landscapes as National Historic Landmarks as well as guides their consideration for national park or national monument status or similar designation and their future planning and management.
