Nature of Work:The purpose of this position is to perform professional planning work in the administration and enforcement of design guidelines for City historic and design districts; to assist in the development of long-range plans for the City, and to perform related work as assigned.
Qualifications: Bachelors degree in historic preservation, architecture, urban planning, or closely related field; Masters degree preferred with two (2) years work experience in the field of historic preservation, architecture, urban planning, or closely related field.
TYPING TEST REQUIRED. Selected applicant must be able to type 30 CWPM. Must possess and maintain a valid SC Class D Drivers License and have an acceptable driving record. Must have knowledge of personal computer equipment with skill in the use of Microsoft Office preferred, utilizing Outlook, word processing, spreadsheet and data base software programs as well as data entry skills. Skill in the use of presentation software, graphic software such as Illustrator, InDesign, and sketch up. Skills in the use of GIS software programs preferred. AICP or other compatible professional certification preferred.
Note: May be required to work additional hours as needed in order to accomplish assigned work. Will be required to attend meetings after normal work hours. May be required to use various modes of transportation for site visits, field surveys, meetings, and work related events outside of the office.
