Dovetail Cultural Resource Group (Dovetail) is currently accepting application for a lab assistant in our Fredericksburg, Virginia office. The position will be 40 hours per week and will last for a minimum of one year with a three-month probationary period.


The candidate must be highly organized, detail oriented and able to work well with others.  Cataloging is a component of this position so strong skills in artifact identification is a must. Tasks will also include, but not limited to, artifact processing (washing and labeling), preparation of artifacts for delivery, and lab-based data entry.  Additional tasks may be assigned depending on company needs and skill-set of applicant. Applicant must have a minimum of an archaeological field school and six months of lab experience. A Bachelors degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, Historic Preservation, or a related field plus six months lab experience is preferred. Applicant must be physically able to lift and carry boxes of artifacts. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Access is required.
