Historic Preservation Consulting firm seek Architectural Historian/ Historic Preservation Specialist/ Preservation Planner with extensive experience with historic preservation documentation.


Applicant must have a minimum of a Masters degree in Architectural History, History, Historic Preservation, or a related field and at least THREE years of relevant experience in historic resource documentation meeting Section 106 requirements. Please submit a writing sample.


Successful applicant must have extensive experience writing historic context statements and completing successful National Register nominations (including  conducting on-site investigation, archival research (including deed research), analysis, write narratives [description and significance]), as well as conducting reconnaissance- and intensive-level inventories, documenting (photographic and narrative architectural descriptions) buildings, structures, districts, sites, and objects, and evaluating integrity and eligibility according to national, state, and/or local register(s) criteria.  Familiarity with Section 106, 36 CFR Part 800 is expected.  Familiarity and experience researching federal, DC, MD, and VA records is preferred.  Knowledge and experience with SHPO procedures, HABS/HAER documentation, and/or writing environmental impact statement sections is desirable. The position may require out-of-area travel.
