The Membership Engagement Assistant for the Preservation Leadership Forum program, under the supervision of the Manager for Forum Marketing, assists with facilitating a wide range of member engagement activities, including increasing virtual and in-person networking opportunities for members, helping to coordinate and staff Forum member booths at relevant events, and helping to coordinate the electronic and hard copy distribution of membership engagement messaging. The Assistant will play a key role in helping the Manager identify and engage affinity groups within Forum membership and will work closely with other Preservation Resources team members to administer the Partners Network program. The Assistant also will help identify and package specialized Forum content that will be of interest to affinity groups, and will mine affinity group organizations for content that will be of interest to a larger Forum audience.

 

 

 

DUTIES

 

  • Assist in identifying in-person and virtual networking opportunities for Forum members; assist in coordinating and advertising these opportunities and staff events as needed.

  • Assist in identifying opportunities for member engagement and in creating relevant engagement materials and outreach plans.

  • Assist with coordinating member benefits on an on-going basis.

  • Send regularly-scheduled messages to Forum members, including new member messaging and lapsed member solicitations.

  • With Manager guidance, help identify, manage, and grow affinity networks within Forum membership; create and help maintain audience-specific online community platforms for identified affinity networks.

  • Work with Manager to determine appropriate benefits and incentives for members of affinity groups.

  • Maintain the Partners Network: Implement and monitor new Partner Network applications; compile and distribute the monthly newsletter and maintain Partners Central (online member site); help coordinate logistics for Partner Network meetings; assist with logistics for periodic all-Network calls and/or webinars.

  • Serve as the primary Forum staff liaison for the Membership Department.

  • Stay abreast of current and emerging trends in preservation practices, particularly those of interest to identified affinity group audiences.

  • Work closely with key National Trust staff on the content related to affinity group topics.

  • With the guidance of the Manager, proactively develop and maintain working relationships with Forum members and key external partners.

  • Continually enhance skills related to use of rapidly changing technology and communications best practices.

  • Responsible for achieving high quality results with moderate supervision.

  • Other duties as assigned.

     

    Qualifications

 

  • At least 1-2 years of professional level experience, particularly in a matrixed and geographically dispersed non-profit.  Demonstrated interest in historic preservation preferred.

  • Basic analytical and problem solving skills, including issue identification and prioritization. Basic project-management skills. Ability to achieve results with moderate supervision.

  • Excellent attention  to detail.

  • Experience successfully interacting with key stakeholders.

  • Ability to collaborate and achieve results.

  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task efficiently and respond to a high volume of ongoing requests in a timely fashion, with ability to adapt and be flexible in a dynamic work environment. Strong organizational skills required.

  • Ability to continually develop skills related to use of rapidly changing technology and communications best practices. Familiarity with LinkedIn and Twitter platforms preferred.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Entrepreneurial spirit and skill set essential.

  • Demonstrated success in working with culturally diverse colleagues and external stakeholders.

  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel required. Familiarity with other software, including databases and CRM systems a plus.

  • Bachelors degree (or equivalent years of experience) required.
