This full time position will be based in one of our regional offices (York, PA; Newark, DE; Sparks, MD or Washington, DC). The work will require that the candidate meets or exceeds the Secretary of the Interiors Standards as an Architectural Historian or Historian. The position will entail the completion of Historic Property Resource Forms, National Register of Historic Places Nomination, Determination of Effects Reports as well as assisting with Memorandums of Agreement, Consulting Parties and Section 4(f) Reports. Experience in the Mid-Atlantic Region is required. Experience with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act is also required. The position will involve travel throughout the Mid-Atlantic, and possibly on a national level.
The qualified candidate will serve as an Architectural Historian and will be responsible for documenting and evaluating historic structures, writing property descriptions, and evaluating the integrity of resources. The qualified candidate must be able to write at a professional level and present ideas in a well-thought out and comprehensive manner.
Work is performed in a mix of office environment and field work. Office work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are
adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment. Field work will require work to be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 50 lbs) may be required.
This position is a 6 month temporary position with potential to turn into a permanent position.

∑†††† MA/MS degree from an accredited college or university.
∑†††† Has a valid drivers license and is able to rent a car (for travel)
∑†††† Four (4) to eight (8) years of professional experience.
∑†††† Experience with GIS and Adobe Acrobat Professional
∑†††† FHWA Certified Section 106 Course
∑†††† Experience with FCC 620/621 forms and TCNS
