This position is responsible for management of interpretive operations and programming for major historic sites which include Fort Delaware, Fort DuPont and Port Penn Interpretive Center. Fort Delaware conducts over 500 interpretive programs and special events each year. Staff works closely with re-enactor community to recruit volunteers and solicit support for park events. This position will oversee the work of 15-20 seasonal and volunteer interpreters presenting 1st person living history interpretive programs on a daily basis. Additional duties include: monitoring the parks annual programming budget, dressing in civil war costume attire, extensive off-season research and teaching staff how to safely conduct daily black powder demonstrations which includes firing of the Forts Columbiad gun, one of the largest actively fired civil war period cannons in the country.
