THE POSITION: Broward County, Florida is seeking a knowledgeable, experienced manager responsible for serving as the principal professional and technical resource person for various activities and functions related to comprehensive planning, historic preservation, transportation planning, land use and zoning programs of the Planning and Redevelopment Division. Broward County, located in southeast Florida, has a population of approximately 1.8 million and is one of the most diverse and dynamic areas in the United States. REQUIREMENTS: Minimum qualifications are Master's Degree in urban planning, historic preservation or related field; 6 years responsible planning experience, including 2 years experience in program development and implementation; or any equivalent combination of relevant training and experience.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The successful applicant for this position will demonstrate strong management/teamwork skills, knowledge of historic preservation; ability to serve as liaison to, and coordinator of, the Historic Preservation Board; experience writing and managing grants and contracts; skills in organizing and carrying out systematic identification and documentation of historic sites; determining the integrity and significance of historical sites and all applicable federal, state and local requirements. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, are required.
