Job Summary:

This position will provide operational expertise related to lithium ion cell development. This position will require lithium ion electrode chemistry development, evaluation, and cell design for high performance lithium ion electrochemistry. The work will also include electrochemical characterization, abuse testing, battery degradation and failure mode analysis to optimize cell performance and reliability

Ongoing Responsibilities include:

Characterize lithium ion electrodes chemistry, especially for high energy materials

Perform various cell assembly techniques (coin cells, pouch cells and other configurations)

Conduct lithium ion cell design and design optimization including electrochemical components

Conduct lithium ion cell characterization including material electrochemical characterization and cell performance characterization works such as calendar life, cycle life, rate capability, cyclic voltammetry, AC impedance and others as needed

Develop test strategies, hardware and software needed to validate the performance of battery systems in an R&D environment

Perform battery abuse testing including electrical, thermal and mechanical abuse

Generate regular progress reports and keep supervisor informed of testing status and results

Position Requirements:

Minimum of a BS in chemical engineering, materials engineering, electrochemistry or related field. Additional lithium ion cell design, testing and electrode processing experience is a major plus. Advanced degree preferred

Lithium ion product engineering experience with battery, energy storage products and materials is preferred

BS with at least 7 years of experience, MS with 3-5 years or PhD with 2-3 years of experience

Familiar with battery cycler software

Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Strong written and oral communication skills
