General Description




Provides support in the areas of management, recordation, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), mapping, and archiving of Osage archaeological and historic sites, information, and resources. 








  • Masters degree in GIS, Archaeology, Anthropology, Geography, or related field required

  • Must have 2 years experience with geographic information systems, archaeological field work, Cultural Resource Management (CRM),or tribal-federal historic compliance review work

  • Must have specialized training in GPS/GIS (Global Positioning System/Geographic Information Systems) databases, GIS mapping (ArcGIS preferred)

  • Must have knowledge of archiving technology, cultural resource management procedures, Osage culture, Osage Reservation and Midwest area

  • Some work experience with tribal communities preferred

  • Must be able to conduct field work in all types of weather conditions

  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time, kneel, bend at the waist and reach above the shoulders

  • Have the ability to lift objects up to 50 lbs. and endure strenuous exertion

  • Requires a high level of personal integrity and ethics

  • Requires a high level of problem solving skills

  • Requires willingness and ability to learn new skills, including travel to conferences and training sessions

  • Requires ability to use Microsoft Office Suite programs and FileMaker Pro

  • Requires good interpersonal communication and team work skills

  • Requires a high level of discretion and confidentiality

  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and be bondable

  • Must be able to pass drug/alcohol testing


  • Must have a valid drivers license and clean driving record may be required to drive GSA or tribal vehicles



Duties & Responsibilities




  • Establishes and administers the departments GIS and RDBMS (Relational Data Base Management Systems) within a Microsoft Windows and Microsoft SQL Server Environment, including administering the departments FileMaker Pro database
