Director of Operations

 

The Director of Operations is responsible for the day to day operation of the Light Station and Museum. The Director of Operations reports directly to the Executive Director and the skills and duties of the position include but are not limited to:

 

Desired Skills

 

  • Superior communication skills, both written and verbal with a high level of organization
  • Must clearly demonstrate the necessary level of managerial and leadership skills and technical competence required to manage all personnel
  • Ability to listen actively and be responsive to visitors needs and expectations with a strong commitment to excellent customer service, both internal and external
  • Proven ability to work positively with other organizations, schools, and community groups
  • The ability to speak confidently in front of others and lead guided tours

Duties

·         This job will be required to work all weekends

  • Ensure the business operates within the company's mission statement

 

·         Assist with opening and closing all sites

·         Insure visitor safety and keep sites secure

·         Co-direct building and facilities maintenance and operations

·         Assist Executive Director with all financial activities including budget preparation and helping maintain the revenue goals throughout the year

 

·         Supervise both retail and office staff and coordinate/maintain all administrative services to support daily operations

 

·         Oversee all advertising and P.R. for the organization

 

·          Fill-in for all staff positions should a vacancy occur

 

·         All other tasks as assigned by the Executive Director.

 

A minimum of a bachelors degree in Business, Communications, or Historic Preservation with experience in staff management retail sales, and site management is desired.  Advanced computer skills required.
