As a Technical Writer-Editor, you will develop communication strategies and authors high-profile professional and technical publications related to GSAs Design Excellence program, architecture, and related disciplines. Extensive training, experience, and accomplishment is demonstrated by a record of published writings on architectural design projects, architectural criticism, and knowledge about various design fields to both highly technical design professionals and general audiences inside and outside of government. The position is located within the Office of the Chief Architect, Public Buildings Service.

  • Develops communications and outreach strategies that employ written articles, manuscripts, and other publications to share best practices, address technical issues, and advance the goals of GSAs Design Excellence program to design and construct highly quality Federal facilities. Communication strategies include internal and external publications, hard copy and web based writings, and social media.
  • Writes and manages the production of professional quality monographs, journal articles, speeches, reports, and other prose that is appropriate in clarity and sophistication for multiple audiences, including internal, external, professional, and general audiences. Incumbents writings are appropriate to architectural professionals and end-users related to design and construction including historic buildings, new construction, repair and alteration projects, public art, sustainability, landscape, and urban design.
  • Develops, executes and writes materials for architectural marketing and e-mail campaigns for the Office of Design and Constructions projects, policy changes, training seminars, etc.
  • Writes and edits related materials (letters, memorandums, reports, etc.) for both the architectural and engineering communities. The position requires subject matter expertise in architectural documentation, analysis and criticism and more general skills in writing and editing guidance, policies, instructions, speeches, letters, and memorandums.
  • Serves as the initial writer and the final reviewer of the written materials prior to publication. Completed work must not require additional reviews and will be considered the final copy ready for release or publication.
