Maryland Historical Trust

Created by the Maryland General Assembly in 1961, the Trust is a state agency dedicated to preserving and interpreting the legacy of Marylandís past. Through research, conservation and education, the Trust assists the people of Maryland in understanding their historical and cultural heritage. The Trust is an agency of the Maryland Department of Planning and serves as Marylandís State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) pursuant to the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966. The Maryland Historical Trust is seeking two qualified candidates for a full-time, paid summer internship at our Crownsville, Maryland headquarters.

Easement Intern
Internship Opportunity
Crownsville, MD

Main Purpose of Position:Interns will work under the supervision of the Administrator of the Trusts Historic Preservation Easement Program. Interns will be directly responsible for the preparation of Maryland Inventory of Historic Properties forms, photographic documentation, mapping, and inspections for various properties on which the Trust holds an historic preservation easement.The position requires travel to various historic preservation easement property sites.Successful candidates must have a valid drivers license in the State of Maryland and be able to provide their own transportation to the Trusts office and property sites.

Duration and Hours:Internships are for a period of 10 weeks totaling 40 hours per week during the summer of 2015.Full-time availability required Monday through Friday during normal business hours.

Desired Qualifications: Graduate students from an accredited college or university in Historic Preservation or other closely related field. Ability to use Microsoft Word and digital camera.Familiarity with Maryland Inventory of Historic Properties form and Standards and Guidelines Architectural and Historical Investigations in Maryland preferred. Recently graduated students are also eligible to apply.

Stipend:† A stipend of $2,500 is provided. †Per diem and housing are not offered.†
