Historic Preservation Coordinator (Environmental Review)

This Historic Preservation Coordinator position (Environmental Review) reviews and comments on projects undertaken pursuant to Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (36 CFR Part 800). This position is primarily responsible for reviewing projects that have the potential to affect historic sites and structures that are listed in or eligible for the National Register of Historic Places. The position facilitates Area of Potential Effect (APE) determinations, supports the identification and evaluation of historic resources, provides comments on determinations of effect from project activities, and employs strategies for resolving impacts to historic resources when they are determined to be adverse. This position further works closely with applicants and agencies to facilitate their compliance with the Section 106 process, providing guidance and assistance as appropriate. This position also works to identify, preserve, and protect the cultural resources of Kentucky along with other state and federal agencies, local communities, and interested citizens.
