Description of Job Duties:  This Historic Preservation Coordinator position (Survey Program Coordinator) is responsible for maintaining the Kentucky Historic Resources Inventory, working closely with the Kentucky Heritage Councils (KHC) Data Coordinator/GIS Team and other KHC staff.  This position ensures that survey data are standardized in terms of architectural/historic information and properly recorded with accurate mapping data.  Training and practical experience working with GIS applications and software is required to manage a growing database.  The successful candidate will have experience developing historic contexts and applying National Register criteria in the evaluation of cultural resources, and must understand the broad patterns of regional history and architectural history. This position performs public outreach, promotes survey related projects statewide, develops and maintains educational materials, assists in the development of agency publications, provides advice and guidance to the public regarding the identification of cultural resources, and supports the proper management of information derived from Section 106 surveys. The position also works closely with the Public Information Officer on the management of the agencys survey webpage and develops educational content. The position administers grant-in-aid projects, assists with the management of survey grants, and organizes conference sessions, symposia, and survey related workshops.While work is typically performed in an office setting, extended field investigations and in-state travel is occasionally required.
