Founded in 1977, the Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation is a local, not-for-profit that enhances and preserves the architectural, cultural, and landscaped heritage of Saratoga Springs, New York through advocacy, educational programming, technical assistance, and restoration.

The Membership & Programs Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day membership administration, implementation of the annual membership plan, and the development and coordination of educational programs and events.  The Membership & Programs Coordinator reports directly to the Executive Director.  The duties of the position include:


§  Manage, grow, and evaluate the membership program through a variety of strategies as outlined in the annual membership plan.

§  Oversee fulfillment of member benefits.

§  Maintain and develop a membership/donor database.

§  Manage and grow the Annual Appeal.

§  Work with the Executive Director, the Board of Directors and the Membership & Development Committee to identify and cultivate individual, corporate, and private/public foundation opportunities.

§  Provide staff support to the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and the Membership & Development Committee to increase membership, annual appeal, and corporate sponsorships.

§  Work with the Executive Director to create messages and materials to promote the membership, annual appeal, and grants.

§  Responsible for updating the website and social media regularly to provide current information about the organization and events.

§  Recruit and develop a volunteer base.

§  Assist with capital or special purpose campaigns as identified by the Executive Director and Board of Directors.

§  Assist with identifying potential grant opportunities, preparing grant applications, and administering grants that are received.

Programs & Events

§  Execute annual events so that they advance the Foundations mission and revenue goals, and build long term loyalty and support.  Increase program and event revenues through corporate and institutional sponsorships.

§  Work with the Executive Director, the Board of Directors and the Programs & Events Committee to identify and implement educational programs and events.

§  Coordinate related activities of the organizations major fundraising events as well as the annual meeting, walking tours, volunteer recognition reception, Preservation Recognition Awards, educational programming, and any new events developed.  This includes managing all related information and correspondence related to fundraisers and coordinating arrangements at event locations including facility and catering contracts.

§  Responsible for media related activities for educational programs and events including: writing and distributing press releases; maintaining media contact list; organizing press conferences; and coordinate design and publication of promotional materials. 

§  Effectively utilize volunteers for implementation of programs and events.


Other duties assigned as assigned. 

 This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours/week with benefits.  Availability for meetings and events in the evening and weekends is required.  Must have the ability to lift and carry 30 pounds and have reliable transportation.
