Founded in 1983, MTA Metro-North Railroad operates the Hudson, Harlem and New Haven Lines to seven counties in New York State and two counties in Connecticut. The railroad is a subsidiary of the country's largest transportation network, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA). Today, Metro-North operates over 384 route miles and 775 miles of track, linking the iconic Grand Central Terminal (GCT) in New York City with 121 stations in New York State and Connecticut. Additionally, the railroad has the Port Jervis and Pascack Valley lines which operate from New Jersey Transit's Hoboken Terminal and connects with Penn Station in New York via the Secaucus Transfer. Summer Intern- Historic Preservation & ADA Intern

Documentation and cataloging of historic resources at Metro-North: The intern will visit historic facilities and document character defining features and architectural resources through written descriptions, historic research and photography. 

Documentation and cataloging of ADA accessibility and amenities at Metro-North: Using MNR's ADA inspection checklist, the intern will perform field visits and update MNR existing ADA database. 

Assist with ADA and historic preservation review of ongoing design and/or construction projects, basic review of customer information related to accessibility (timetables, internet, etc) and assist with historic research and compiling of information for design submittals to State Historic Preservation Office.  

Assist with tasks relating to environmental compliance as it relates to station and/or facilities planning or ongoing construction projects.  

Other duties as assigned by Director, Environmental Compliance & Services and Assistant Director, Planning & Design Compliance.
