Sonoma State University is one of the 23 campuses of the California State University. Located in the Sonoma County wine country, 48 miles north of San Francisco, the University has an enrollment of approximately 9,000 students. As of Spring 2013, the University had 497 faculty with 47% tenure-track. The University is comprised of six schools: Arts and Humanities, Business and Economics, Education, Extended and International Education, Social Sciences, and Science and Technology.

The Department of Anthropology anticipates a part-time, temporary teaching opportunity in

historic preservation. We are looking for individuals who can teach a graduate course, Practicum in National Register of Historic Places (2 units), as needed on a semester by semester basis.


To be recommended for appointment, the candidate must have a Ph.D. in Anthropology,

significant research relevant to the course offered, and prior teaching experience at T.A. level or greater. MAs and ABDs with sufficient teaching and/or research experience in the area of specialization (e.g., architectural history, historic preservation) will be considered. Applicants may substitute an M.A. or Ph.D. in an appropriate discipline and significant relevant professional experience for the Ph.D. in Anthropology.
