Under the general direction of the National Register/Survey Structural Historian, candidate will provide information to the public regarding National Register and state survey programs; guidance to complete nomination and inventory forms and related program requirements, regulation requirements described in 36 CFR 60, National Register Bulletins, and WV Code 29-1-8; apply appropriate standards and criteria as set forth by the National Park Service to evaluate National Register eligibility, work with National Register/Survey Coordinator to determine final eligibility status of resources, and provide written and/or verbal comments regarding specific properties and their eligibility; review for corrections and then process inventory forms for inclusion in the state historic preservation office survey files resulting from public submission, in-house surveys or grant projects; work with other staff to insure inventory information is included in the GIS database; as assigned, research and write National Register nominations and complete supporting photographs and mapping, prepare written or verbal presentations of historic preservation information for educational purposes, monitor annual survey and planning grant projects sponsored by historic landmark commissions or other groups; conduct site visits as required to complete individual projects. Candidate must be willing to travel; a successful criminal background check may be a condition of employment. Other duties as assigned. 

Training: Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university with a major in history or historic preservation. Degree and major verification required. See below. 

Substitution: Master's Degree in History or historic preservation may substitute for the required major.
