PSFEI was founded in 1947 at the request of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The Institute is part of the College of Engineering at Penn State University Park and touches the lives of thousands of people in all sixty-seven counties of Pennsylvania and across our nation. PSFEI provides facility engineering services to eleven state agencies of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the federal government's General Services Administration. PSFEI's broad array of facility services includes training facility operators and managers, conducting facility assessments, troubleshooting problems, and developing solutions and strategies for facility owners. PSFEI has specific expertise in energy efficiency and sustainability, energy markets, building infrastructure, and facilities information management. The PSFEI mission is to merit the public trust by meeting customer facility needs through engineering, information management, education, and applied research, while exploring new and innovative ways to exceed customer expectations.

PSFEI provides technical advice to state agencies within Pennsylvania regarding facilities management and operation. PSFEI is seeking a facilities engineer responsible for providing technical assistance to client facilities. Functions include provide management support and monitoring of a state-wide web based building automation system, troubleshoot building systems, serve as the contract liaison between end user and the HVAC service contractor, participate in design review, conduct surveys and studies, provide advice on current practices, and instruct continuing education courses. This position interacts with architects, engineers, site administrators, site maintenance staff, contractors and government agency directors. Knowledge of building automation and HVAC systems is required; experience on Automated Logics WebCTRL, building electrical and plumbing systems are preferred. Excellent communication skills required for presentations and preparing reports. Travel required. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or related discipline or higher plus ten years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding. PSFEI has had its contracts renewed continuously since 1947.
