The Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor (and its nonprofit Erie Canalway Heritage Fund, Inc.) collaborates with communities and organizations to preserve and interpret the nationally significant heritage of New York’s canal system, provide world-class recreational and educational opportunities, foster economic revitalization, and improve quality of life within a 524-mile long Corridor. The Corridor includes more than 2.7 million people and more than 230 communities that border the present-day New York State Canal System and its historic alignments. Duties and Responsibilities Manage certain projects or programs related to historic preservation, tourism promotion, heritage development and/or community revitalization Provide as-needed support to historic preservation, tourism promotion, heritage development and/or community revitalization projects or programs managed by other professional staff Assist with identification and securing of resources to launch or expand programs and projects Manage certain contracts; provide support to other contracts managed by other professional staff Manage certain reporting requirements; provide support to other reporting managed by other professional staff Manage certain relationships with partners; provide support to other relationships managed by other professional staff Represent organization at events, meetings and other functions throughout the Corridor Perform variety of regular, and as-needed, administrative functions, including work planning and budgeting Qualifications and Requirements Personal interest in and commitment to preserving and promoting the extraordinary heritage and resources of the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor; long-term familiarity with the Corridor and its historic, cultural and natural resources preferred Demonstrated administrative, organizational and project management skills; in addition, resource development skills preferred A team player, able to work within a fast paced environment; energetic and creative; experience working in team environments and with volunteers preferred Minimum 5 years program or project management experience with private or public sectors; nonprofit and resource development experience preferred Bachelors degree required; Masters degree preferred Willingness to travel, as appropriate, for meetings, trainings, and events
