We're looking for talented interns to help spread the word about preserving historic small businesses in San Francisco! This is a unique opportunity to combine an interest in history, urban issues, and/or small businesses with direct action.
The Legacy Business Historic Preservation Fund, on the ballot this November as Prop J, is a first in the nation program that recognizes 30+ year old small businesses as historic assets. San Francisco has lost some of its most iconic businesses over the past few years, and Prop J is a way for the City to offer incentives to long-term businesses, as well as property owners who offer long term leases. In short, it's a way to help protect our locally-owned small businesses, and keep San Francisco, San Francisco. If you want to learn more, have a look at our website.
Our challenge for this campaign is to get out the word to among the small business community. That's why we're looking for interns who can go to the commercial corridors around the City and talk to business owners about the legislation and the Legacy Business program.
Your tasks as an intern would include:
- Explaining the campaign to eligible businesses (here's more info)
- Getting business owners' contact info
- Asking to put sign in window
- Additional tasks may be assigned in accordance with intern interests
