Building Conservation Associates, Inc. (BCA) seeks an Architectural Conservator to join the technical staff in our New York office. The Conservator will participate in a range of activities related to the assessment and conservation of historic resources, including historic research, field investigation, materials testing, report writing, preparation of construction documents, and project monitoring. Excellent communication skills are essential for this position. Demonstrable proficiency in AutoCAD is highly desirable.

Candidates for this position should have a graduate level degree in Historic Preservation with a concentration in materials conservation, or be able to provide documentation of equivalent experience; have a working knowledge about the conservation and treatment of a wide range of historic building materials; be comfortable working at heights in an outdoor environment; and have up to three years of professional experience.

Interested individuals should submit a letter of interest, current resume, contact information for at least two references, and two short writing samples. At least one of the writing samples must include the characterization of a building material and a technical analysis of conditions and possible treatments.
