Position Title: Historic Preservation Specialist

Duties & Responsibilities: FEMA Region IV is hiring Historic Preservation Specialists for temporary duties. The Historic Preservation Specialist will support the SC State Historic Preservation Office in conjunction with the Environmental Planning & Historic Preservation Team to support disaster recovery. The specialist will provide technical expertise and coordination assistance in the Section 106 compliance review process for proposed flood recovery projects in South Carolina.

Relevant Experience Required: Experienced professionals with a background in/as an Historic Architecture, Architectural Historian, Architecture and Archaeologist. Preference is given to individuals who have education and experience to meet the Secretary of Interior's Professional Qualifications Standards and who have prior experience consulting with the State Historic Preservation Office.

Educational Requirements: BA or BS in Architecture, Architectural History, Historic Preservation, Archaeology or Anthropology or a closely aligned field. Master's degree preferred. Candidate should be qualified under the Secretary of the Interior's Professional Qualifications Standards.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Ability to draft professional-quality documentation, consultation letters, and email is required.
Have strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office
The applicant must be able to work independently, possess strong communication skills and be able to handle a stressful work environment

Local Hire employees are eligible for the following benefits:
