Under limited supervision, assists Planning, Zoning & Preservation Division staff with research and analysis pertaining to both current and advance preservation planning initiatives. Assists with Certificates of Appropriateness (CoAs), Land Development Regulations and other matters in the Citys historic districts. Provides assistance to applicants and the general public pertaining to preservation planning matters. May operate independently on simple zoning matters.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Researches and prepares planning-related analysis, reports, documents and agenda for City of Lake Worth officials and other agencies and organizations
Responds to preservation planning-related inquiries from the general public and other departments, agencies and organizations
Participates in preservation planning-related education and outreach initiatives
Assists in preservation planning-related code compliance efforts
Assists in the preparation of maps, brochures, forms, flyers and other graphic materials and presentations for the department
Performs fieldwork and research for both current preservation and comprehensive planning efforts
Assists in reviewing and making recommendations for building permit applications
Reviews and approves Business Tax Receipts and Use & Occupancy Certificates
Collects and analyzes data, conducts site visits as needed and assists planners with special projects as requested
Assists in Land File Maintenance
Other duties as assigned related to the overall mission of the Department for Community Sustainability
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of historic preservation, urban, and comprehensive planning principles.
Basic knowledge of historic preservation, urban design, state planning laws and applicable Federal regulations.
Knowledge of zoning.
Skill in operating computers and blueprints machines.
Skill in research and technical analysis of planning-related information.
Ability to organize and analyze technical information.
Knowledge of site plan review.
Ability to make sound assessments and recommendations based on research.
Ability to communicate effectively, graphically, orally and in writing.
