The Montgomery County Department of Plannings Historic Preservation Section is seeking a motivated individual with historic preservation project review experience. This Senior Planner will, with minimal supervision, review applications for Historic Area Work Permits and make staff recommendations to the Historic Preservation Commission, as well as perform a range of activities such as providing technical preservation information and support to citizens and owners of historic properties, inter­acting with other governmental departments and agencies, and conducting outreach with a broad range of citizens and civic associations, and other related duties as assigned. Work involves a high level of responsibility, complexity, and variety, and requires the ability to work on projects individually and in a team setting. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, analyze project applications and apply preservation guidelines to recommend decisions, and effectively communicate information in a variety of formats to audiences with different levels of understanding of historic preservation concepts.
