The Historic Preservation Section of the Cultural Resources Group (Philadelphia Metro) is seeking a full-time architectural historian for immediate employment in the Burlington (NJ) office. The appropriate candidate will be able to demonstrate an established career in architectural history/cultural resources management.

Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • The candidate should have strong skills in historic structures survey and analysis

  • Be able to direct field surveys and research tasks, and write Section 106 reports including Determinations of Eligibility and Effects, historic context studies, and Memorandums of Agreement

Minimum Requirements

  • Masters degree in architectural history, history, historic preservation, American studies, or related discipline

  • 7-10 years of experience in architectural history and historic preservation

  • Knowledge of Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and the necessary regulatory steps as it applies to historic properties

  • Ability to direct/conduct architectural history field surveys

  • Ability to direct/conduct focused architectural research

  • Ability to manage an architectural history project and draft the appropriate reports

  • Valid drivers license required

  • Exellent technical writing skills and verbal communication skills

  • Flexibility to travel overnight for projects

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to interact with Project Managers, clients, and review agencies in a professional consulting environment

  • Ability to manage a project with limited oversight

  • Possess regionally specific (PA, NJ, DE, NY, MD) architectural history knowledge
