The Providence Preservation Society (PPS) is currently seeking a summer intern to develop and implement a Tourism Marketing campaign using, primarily, online communications and social media. The intern will be chiefly responsible for building and maintaining the organizations visual identity, and that of the City of Providence, by using Instagram and other tools.

Specific tasks will include--

 Researching, writing and posting new social media posts on historic buildings and places in Providence

  • Developing concepts for new features on the Providence Preservation Society social media outlets
  • Updating the Providence Preservation Society Twitter and Instagram accounts and Facebook page
  • Compiling and analyzing data from reports
  • Assisting with live events
  • Welcome applicants can have a background in marketing, communications, public history, historic preservation, or significant interest in one of these fields.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • A strong interest in tourism marketing and social media
  • Impeccable writing, communicaiton and spelling abilities
  • Skilled in online research and analytical skill
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • A creative thinker who likes to come up with new and different ideas
  • Diligent work ethic and insatiable desire to learn
  • Experience on popular websites, such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel and PowerPoint; beginner knowledge of Adobe Photoshop or HTML is helpful, but not required
  • Ability to perform well under pressure and be very dependable as well as accountable
  • Ability to multi-task and keep deadlines

This position is unpaid. Hours are negotiable. Reports to the Executive Director.
