Position: Planning Tech I, $18.65/hour, 30 hours per week
Required education and experience:
Graduate degree (or current graduate student) in historic preservation or related field
Architectural history (vernacular is a plus)
Reconnaissance level architectural field survey (familiarity with modernism is a plus)
Familiarity with historic site registers (National Register, state and local)
Primary and secondary source research
The primary assignment will be documenting historic properties through reconnaissance level architectural field survey in support of Fairfax County planning activities. There will be opportunities to conduct research on identified historic properties, and to help reconcile the countys local historic sites list with state records. Additional GIS project possible. The intern will work under the direction of heritage resources staff.
