We are a volunteer-driven, comprehensive Downtown revitalization organization that utilizes the Main Street 4 Point Approach(TM) to help build a vibrant Downtown Saline and ensure its success for many years to come! OUR VISION Downtown Saline is the wider community’s focal point for entertainment, shopping, dining, services, and tourism, drawing people with its friendliness, beautiful historic buildings, events, variety of shops with unique offerings and ample parking. It is a destination where folks stroll the streets, shop, live, dine, worship and are entertained; where storefronts are full, businesses are healthy and the sidewalks, streets and buildings are clean and attractive; where people feel safe, friends meet, families gather and the community comes together to celebrate our heritage throughout the year. POSITION: Main Street Design Intern

 

LOCATION: Saline, MI

 

Unpaid 10-20 hours a week, Spring/Summer 2016

 

 

 

Job Summary: Execute the organizations mission by assisting with regular activities of the Main Street Program.  Duties may include:

 

  • Increase awareness and knowledge of local historic preservation programs and initiatives, including National Register nominations and local historic districts.
  • Assist with projects such as Be Bloomin, Leather Bucket Alley, Architectural Scavenger hunt, National Register Nomination Education, and Student Banner Project.
  • Assist with Main Streets digital and print communications; including fliers, correspondence, social media, and website.
  • Perform database management for donors, volunteers, and business/property directories.
  • Organize and execute special event materials and registrations. Track and organize volunteers; coordinate post-event follow-up.
  • Attend meetings and provide liaison support for our design, promotion and marketing committees.
  • Take part in community events with local businesses and organizations.
  • Promote the communitys desire to support the organizations mission.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

 

 

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Be responsible, hard-working, ethical and committed to the mission of Saline Main Street.
  • Be able to work independently.
  • Have an interest in Historic preservation or currently studying historic preservation, history, architecture, or urban affairs.
  • Possess solid verbal and written communication skills.
  • Be skilled at a variety of computer programs, e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Docs
