The Maryland Historical Trust is the state agency dedicated to preserving and interpreting the legacy of Marylandís past. Through research, conservation and education, the Maryland Historical Trust assists the people of Maryland in understanding their historical and cultural heritage. Part of the Maryland Department of Planning, the Maryland Historical Trust serves as Marylandís State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) pursuant to the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966.

The Maryland Historical Trust (MHT) - the State Historic Preservation Office - is seeking an enthuiastic and energetic Architectural Historian to fill the position of Architectural Survey Data Analyst.

The analyst will undertake a comprehensive study of the state's architectural survey program, focusing on documentation included in the Maryland Inventory of Historic Properties.†

Duties of this position will include completing a summary report of survey data by county, outlining the different kinds of survey data found in the inventory, levels of survey documentation, and re-survey needs.† The study will include a list of significant themes and major gaps in the survey data indentified by county, region or theme, as well as identifying priorities for future survey work throughout the state.

This job requires extreme attention to detail, excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills and a strong interest in working collaboratively.

This is a full-time contractual position.†

Preferred Qualifications: †

Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Historic Preservation, Architectural History, or closely related field.

Computer proficiency (word processing, digital imaging, and databases).

Demonstrated written and oral communication skills are essential.
