AFHA AmeriCorps members benefit rural communities and gain a year of valuable professional experience, while living in outstanding beautiful location, and being a part of a dynamic, committed service team. Remaining available positions include serving with:
PRO ON TRAC -- small town community development group using Main Street model to revitalize the town of Parsons, WV. Projects include historic preservation, beautification, events, and promotion
Regional Tourism Outreach Coordinator -- assist new regional coordination effort networking heritage and cultural tourism for WV Potomac Highlands, based in Wardensville, WV
Interpreter -- assist with outreach and cultural & natural interpretation for Monongahela National Forest at Seneca Rocks Discovery Center and Petersburg WV. Duties will focus on direct programs with visitors during the summer, and developing exhibits and signage over the winter.
Outreach Coordinator -- provide outreach to enhance connections between the Monongahela National Forest and the gateway community of Richwood WV. Projects include display development on natural and historic resources, development of a fishing map to encourage Forest use, help with community events and tourism development. Interpretation and GIS skills desirable.
Duties vary by position, but all look for college degree, strong communications skills, initiative, and reliability. All positions work with volunteers, and have opportunity for a variety of service projects. One year commitment.
