Story City, IA

Position: Assistant Director                                                                          

Hours: Full Time. Minimum of 40 hours per week

Pay: Depended upon experience

Reports to: GCC Director



Greater Chamber Connection (GCC)

·         Assist the Director on projects as needed

o   Recruit, train, and manage volunteers

o   Assistant liaison with committees and volunteers

o   Attend Mandatory Main Street Iowa meetings when assigned by director

o   Assist with the preparation of monthly board packets

o   Assist with oversight and support to Scandinavian Days Committee (and others if added under the GCC umbrella)

·         Responsible for front office organization

·         Assist with walk-ins, phone calls, and daily correspondence

·         Keep partner databases updated

·         Create, Payout, and update spreadsheet for Story City Cash

·         Assist GCC Committees with events (Not organize/run events)

·         Create and disseminate weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly communications to partners & community (Social Media, EDDM, Business Card Directory)

·         Attend meetings when the Director is unable to by Directors request

·         Assist the Director with grant applications

·         Take Board Meeting minutes


·         Responsible for staffing Historic 1913 Carousel through volunteers and a budget for paid staff for all open hours

·         Will be properly trained to operate Carousel as necessary

·         Coordinate the ordering of supplies for carousel inventory and carousel maintenance

·         Ensure Carousel start up cash bags are prepared and be able to count daily bags as needed

·         Keep daily log data base updated

·         Keep Carousel Volunteer Data Base Updated

·         Schedule and Provide tours of the Carousel

*In the event the Asst. Director is required to cover a carousel shift due to lack of coverage from volunteers or carousel staff, these hours shall be considered work time.



Economic Development Corporation (EDC)

·         Help the EDC maintain their records

·         Assist Director with company interviews

·         Assist Director with maintaining the EDC website/LOIS and annual fundraising process

·         Provide administrative support for various meetings annual shareholder letter/meeting, annual election ballots, etc.

·         Provide administrative support for various activities industry round tables, Scandinavian Days, Trivia Nights, etc.

·         Provide adhoc assistance as required.
