Regional Site Manager

Lincoln, NM

This Regional Site Manager (Staff Manager) position will work within a designated historic sites region and manage multiple sites at both Lincoln Historic Site and at Fort Stanton Historic Site. The Regional Site Manager is responsible for the professional administration of the State Historic Sites located within this designated region. The Regional Site Manager is charged with carrying out the mission and strategic goals of the Historic Sites Division and of the Department of Cultural Affairs. The position primarily focuses on four core areas: Cultural Resources Management, including preservation of the sites and collections management; Interpretative Programming, including sustaining the existing educational and interpretive approaches while enhancing public programs, special events, and exhibits and collaborating with other New Mexico Historic Sites in broadening the historic narrative to reach new audiences, fund and Partnership Development, including achieving fundraising goals and strategic plans, and marketing to increase access and visitation while building a high level public profile and awareness. Preference will be given to applicants with a Masters Degree of Arts in museum studies, public history, history, or a related field.  This position will reside at both Lincoln Historic Site located in Lincoln New Mexico and Fort Stanton Historic Site located in Fort Stanton New Mexico.


A Bachelor's Degree in any field of study from an accredited college or university and five (5) years of professional level experience operating within parameters and guidelines directly related to the purpose of the position defined by the agency at the time of recruitment.  Any combination of education from an accredited college or university and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling nine (9) years may substitute for the required education and experience.  A hiring agency will designate a portion of the required experience to include supervisory and/or specialized experience.  Any required licensure, certification or registration shall be defined at the time of recruitment and will be in addition to the above requirements.
