The Heart of Danville (Kentucky) Main Street Program is seeking applications for the position of Executive Director. This position coordinates activity focused on a three-pronged downtown revitalization approach fostering historic preservation, supporting economic vitality and small businesses, and sponsoring community events. This person is an advocate for downtown Danville, providing information and background to merchants, business owners, the community, city and county staff and officials, and interested parties. The Executive Director is the principal on-site supervisor to the Project Manager, oversees daily operations for the Heart of Danville, and collaborates with the Board of Directors to develop positive strategies for downtown development while also adhering to best practices for running a successful non-profit organization. This Executive Director position offers diverse experiences, and the Heart of Danville is one of the partner organizations of the Danville-Boyle County Economic Development Partnership (EDP) for which the Executive Director serves as the Vice President of Downtown Development. This is a full-time, high profile position within the community and requires creativity, confidentiality, and professionalism.

Candidates should have experience in public programming, preferably in areas that address business development, real estate development, historic preservation needs, or improved downtown design. Successful candidates will have organizational management experience, strong writing skills, excellent public speaking skills, and strong organizational, interpersonal, and media relation skills. Preference will be given to those candidates with a Masters degree in relevant fields such as Communications, Public Relations, Economic/Economic Development, History, Historic Preservation, or Urban Planning. Those with a Bachelors degree in an appropriate discipline and at least 3 years of experience in an appropriate field may also be considered.
