As a Carpenter, WG-4607-09 with the National Park Service (NPS), your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Work involves the construction, alteration, installation, repair and modification of items and structures such as framework, rafters, concrete forms, wall, doors, finished paneling, window frames, interior and exterior trims.
  • Constructs, rehabilitates, modifies and assembles from blueprints, sketches, and verbal instructions, structures such as: frames work rafters, doors, finished paneling, windows, interior and exterior trims, staircases, trusses and beams.
  • Repairs doors windows, wood substitute items, exterior siding, flooring and interior fabric as necessary in the course of stabilization/restoration and to ensure completeness and structural integrity.
  • Repairs roof sheathing and rafters.
  • Fabricates duplicate replacements of deteriorated wood members such as moldings, beams, timbers and stairways.
  • Construction of difficult angle and curved cuts must be exact.
  • Performs manual tasks such as loading and unloading supplies.
