Description: Historic New England is seeking a Senior Preservation Services Manager to work with our well-established and respected Preservation Easement Program, cultivating prospective preservation easement donors and managing a subset of properties protected by the organization through preservation restrictions.

Responsibilities: The  Senior Preservation Services Manager will identify and pursue opportunities to expand the Preservation Easement Program, evaluating potential new properties, communicating with prospective easement donors, and working with the Team Leader and legal counsel to prepare necessary documents for conveyance of new preservation easements to the organization. This position also manages a portion of the organizations existing preservation easement portfolio to ensure ongoing owner compliance with preservation and conservation restrictions. Actively fosters positive relationships with external preservation partners and serves as a local resource for preservation issues within assigned areas of responsibility.

Qualifications: The right candidate has a bachelors degree in historic preservation, architectural history, or a closely related discipline (masters degree is preferred) and at least four years of professional experience, including historical and architectural research, writing, editing, and photographic documentation, as well as experience with the application of the Secretary of the Interiors Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties and the ability to read architectural drawings. Successful applicants will be creative, detail-oriented, and able to manage complex and sensitive projects with multiple stakeholders. Must be able to operate effectively in a team environment, where communication within and among a regionally dispersed team is essential to success. This employee should be comfortable working with and mentoring junior-level colleagues. Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to work closely with donors, professional colleagues, and the general public are critical.
