The Nebraska State Historical Society (NSHS) seeks an Associate Director for Historic Preservation to coordinate work of seven amazing preservation associates. The Associate Director will help us develop innovative new programs as we implement a dynamic new strategic plan. Ideal candidates will be excited by the opportunity to fully engage Nebraskans with the process of historic preservation. They will be ready and willing to communicate the value of history and be looking for ways to engage new audiences. The Associate Director will work closely with our partner organizations and local community members to raise awareness of Historic Preservation and its offerings, evaluate current programming. Strong candidates will be committed to professional management practices and have a demonstrated ability to manage staff and volunteer. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and managing the Historic Preservation Program and the related tax credit program. They will serve as a liaison between local communities and the NSHS to achieve strategic objectives. This is a full time exempt position with normal state of Nebraska benefits. Salary: $28.094-$29.499 per hour plus normal state of Nebraska health benefits, vacation and sick leave and retirement plan. Some travel may be required. Requirements Required qualifications: Bachelors degree in history, historic preservation, public/business administration or other field related to Historic Preservation including: American studies, architecture, archeology, anthropology, archival studies, historic preservation, library science, museum studies or related field AND two years experience in cultural resource management; OR a Masters degree in any of the above mentioned fields. Experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. At least three years experience working with historic preservation projects in some form is preferred. Strong candidates will have demonstrated experience with personnel management, project management, and budget administration.
